On Wednesday, 15 October at 6 p.m., our current AIR_Frankfurt guest artist Shia Yih Yiing will talk about her artistic practice and her project ideas. The three-month residency in Frankfurt is taking place in cooperation with Lostgens' and the Goethe-Institut Kuala Lumpur.

Shia Yih Yiing is a Sarawakian artist based in Kuala Lumpur who is celebrated for her allegorical and narrative driven practice. A graduate of the Malaysian Institute of Art and recipient of the Commonwealth Foundation Fellowship in Art Craft, she has explored themes of motherhood, identity, and collective responsibility in works such as 'Womb' (2004), 'Motherhood Games' (2008) and The Weaver (2014). Her recent installation Planting 'Dream: In Search of a Good Gardener' (2022) reflects on ecological identity and shared stewardship, continuing her commitment to socially and culturally resonant storytelling.
