On Wednesday, July 15 at 4 pm, our current AIR_Frankfurt guest artist Netai Halup will talk about his artistic practice and his project ideas. Join us in our reading room for drinks and light refreshments, and take the opportunity to meet Netai Halup and engage in an informal conversation.

Netai Halup is an artist, writer, and art educator based in Tel Aviv. His practice focuses on sculptures that explore tension, destruction, and memory. Halup’s research moves between mapping, writing, collecting, and engaging with communities, which serve as thinking tools in the development of his sculptural work.

During his residency at Basis, Halup will develop his ongoing series “Topographies”, in which he creates concrete monotype reliefs based on the relationship between real maps and personal memory. In Frankfurt, he will conduct archival and site-based research, exploring the city's landscape, spatial histories, and everyday geographies. In the talk, Halup will discuss the relationship between memory, destruction, cartography, and materiality, and how these are reflected in his work.

The three-month residency in Frankfurt is a cooperation with Artport, Tel Aviv.
