We are delighted to be presenting the Berlin artist collective Heavy Listening with their performative sound installation wow at the production and exhibition platform basis e. V. on Wednesday, November 13.

Wow—”the most minimalrecord ever made—comprises a single sinusoidal subbass note to produce a sound experience that is bodily perceptible when played simultaneously on several record players. following the performance and subsequent presentation in the form of a lecture, the audience will have the chance to test out the properties of Wow themselves.

Heavy Listening was founded by the sound artists Carl Schilde and Anselm Venezian Nehls in 2011. They work with making sounds located at the audible thresholds not only aurally but also bodily and spatially perceptible.

Their works have been exhibited at the Center for Art and Media Technology in Karlsruhe, at Ars Electronica, and at the Lentos Museum in Linz. Awards include the Ars Electronica 2012 Award of Distinction in Digital Music & Sound.
