Text

In her work, Marianne Mispelaëre focuses on small gestures, silences, and subtle signs of coexistence. Through drawings, videos, photographs, texts, and installations, she explores the details and traces of human life and social interaction, creating works that are partly ephemeral and partly enduring. In this context, she acts as an attentive observer, revealing different dimensions of what constitutes society.

In her poetic works, language is a central theme: the way we express ourselves shapes our ideas and perceptions; it forms and reinforces hierarchies and power structures. Language can therefore unite, but it can also divide, and is itself in a state of constant flux, change and translation. In Marianne Mispelaëre’s praxis, language becomes a tool for revealing, deconstructing, and rethinking entrenched social processes and interpersonal relationships.

For the extensive exhibition From one hand to another, basis e. V. presents new and existing works by Marianne Mispelaëre for the first time in Germany. The show invites visitors to participate and to linger.
