On the occasion of Bahnhofsviertelnacht, basis will present a selection of video works. Along the exhibition format on display with two works of Silva Agostini, a choice of moving-image works by artists of the basis studios can be seen at Gutleutstraße.
Additionally, the exhibition The Survivors by Young Joo Lee opens at the open project space in Elbestraße.

Valentin Beinroth im Gespräch mit Florian Koch (MeterMorphosen) im basis-Leseraum

In diesen Tagen erscheint im Frankfurter Verlag MeterMorphosen eine neue, überraschende Kreation: Mit dem Künstler Valentin Beinroth, der sich neben anderem intensiv mit Messen und Ordnen beschäftigt, entstand ein kreativer "Aufkleber Experimentierkasten".

Das diskursive Programm des Leseraums setzt sich aus einer lose fortlaufenden Reihe von Veranstaltungen zusammen. Auf Einladung stellen ausgewählte Kollektive, Verlage sowie Künstlerinnen und Künstler Kataloge, Künstlerbücher oder eine Auswahl an Publikationen aus dem Verlagsprogramm vor oder kuratieren  einen Lesekatalog aus ihren Interessensgebieten. Begleitet wird die Bereitstellung des Materials jeweils durch eine Vorstellung der Arbeitsschwerpunkte der Eingeladenen.

Wie weiter mit Europa? Denken die einen bei Europa an Frieden und Freiheit, an das Recht zu leben und zu arbeiten, wo man möchte, an kulturelle Offenheit und Toleranz, denken andere an Lobbyismus und marode Staatshaushalte, an gestrandete Flüchtlinge, Demokratiedefizite und an die Ausbreitung rechtsextremer Parteien. Nicht nur geografisch und kulturell ist Europa schwer zu fassen. Auch als politisches Gebilde hat es seit der Gründung der Europäischen Union noch keine klar gezeichnete Kontur gewonnen. Wo fängt es an, wer gehört dazu und worauf gründet es sich?
